A castle full of activities

For 900 years, Borgholm castle has stood on its precipice, looking out over the Kalmar Strait. It has been a fort, a stronghold, a Renaissance castle, a Baroque palace and a prestige project in many guises before it was destroyed in a fire in the early 19th century. The ruin would become one of the most magnificent in Sweden, noted among our most famous cultural historical buildings, and part of our cultural heritage.
